Even in the dark...
Hello, friend!
This was supposed to be a drawing of the moon but I messed up the curve and so instead it became a flower.
And then it was supposed to be a flower surrounded by butterflies but I couldn’t get the wings right so I covered them with clouds.
But the clouds looked like smog and so instead I covered them with thousands of little crosshatches until finally it just looked like night.
But the night looked like static and I thought about just painting black over the whole damn thing but then I stopped and looked at it again.
Somehow I ended up with a hidden moon in an inadvertent night and I sort of liked the poetry of it. It’s almost like I planned it that way even though this was nothing like what I’d hoped for.
But still…sometimes things work out along the way, even when they are disappointing or frustrating or baffling or confusing at the time.
I’m going to remind myself of that more…and not just when it comes to my doodles.
“Remember
you can still bloom
even in the dark.”
I super crazy love you,
me
PS. I just realized the wording I used on this drawing is very similar to one I did only a few months ago and I’m a little disappointed in myself but also, sometimes the things I need to hear the most are the things I repeat to myself over and over. It happens. And maybe you need it too. Or maybe you just need a reminder that I am constantly doing things wrong because holy hell am I good at that.

Love!! Particularly love the way the Moon's face is nestled inside the flower petals, it appears comforting, cozy, hugged. Thanks for sharing your process. xo
I love it
