We moved south a while ago just because we couldn’t take the winter weather anymore! But what you described and your drawing perfectly depicts the only thing I liked about snow. Walking later at night, especially with a full moon, while it was snowing was something I loved. So quiet…so private.
I'm so glad that you got to experience winter! A great reminder for those of us who live in it that we should take time to breathe it in and appreciate the beauty. The drawing is pretty cool!
Winter/snow is My season! I feel the healthiest in cold weather.
Also, back in the day when I put myself on a crazy limited diet, I carried a carrot scraper when I traveled. Security took it from me because they saw it as a threat. 🤯 I could scrape someone to death…
Sounds like heaven! When you can simply hear nothing. There's a conundrum.
And...in your drawing, you've given the beautiful female trees in my forest the wonderful faces and hands I've always seen in them. I'll remember the cheese knife trick too when going out tonight!
About 30 years ago, I went winter camping with a group of older Girl Guides (Pathfinders) and spent the entire weekend mad at my late husband because he'd been to the same cottage (our base) a couple of years before in the summer, and dropped me off with one kid and a pile of gear because he was taking the other (smaller) kids home and it was snowing pretty heavily. He told me that the cottage was about 50 metres straight downhill from the road (and he had an amazing sense of direction, so I believed him). The teenager and I waded through deep snow with flashlights for about 150 metres before finding the cottage. When we found it, we had to strap on snowshoes and make our way back up to the road several times to haul all the gear (and other girls arriving) to the cottage. On Sunday as the last kid was leaving, I told the cottage owner how angry I was, and she said, oh yeah, they moved the road up the hill last summer.
Were you in Québec, Québec or somewhere else in our Belle Province?
Those creatures are 🌳 trees dwelling fairies there must have been lots of them there invisible to humans but they love winter and midnight it's theirs favorite time to come out next time you go back to Those woods you should bring Maple 🍁 sirop and with a paint brush you should cover the trees trunks and if you see any holes make. Sur you also put a lot of the sirop inside the holes and if a predator, serial killers appear they will protect you! Voilà
I’m so happy you were able to enjoy real snow and silence. When I was a kid, we got a lot of snow and I lived in a subdivision that was all larger acre lots with trees. It was beautiful. Few car tracks. Pre everything all 4-wheel drive. I yearn for that silence in my brain again. Happy Holidays, Jenny.
Love your "weapon(s)" of choice :)
(And welcome to winter!) :)
Being forewarned that you carry a cheese knife, I am tempted to challenge you with a round of good Camembert. On guard wonderful woman!
F-ing amazing.
Jenny, I love you, but all I can see is a cat butthole in the middle of the tree! *dont ban me, dont all pile on me, please, i love it here*
I also saw this, but it also didn't seem that surprising for Jenny. *please don't ban me either*

I was in Montebello and it was so pretty.
The silence of snow is a balm.
I really really love this one. I keep staring at it.
Gigglesnort… cheese knife.
It's like the 2 tree ladies share a tree heart. 🌲꩜🌲
Yes!

I love everything about this post! The cheese knife/grater was hilarious and your art work is fab!
Thank you for the good thoughts and the drawing. I don't have a cheese knife but I do have a pocket knife that I can open as needed.
