I recall something in my Art History class in college about Monet’s butthole period.

My drawing teacher was just saying "one woman's anxiety sketches are another Monets buttholes."

Your ‘buttholes’ made me feel much better 🙃

When I first opened your email, I really wanted this design made into wallpaper for my office. Then I read the post and now I really want a wall of buttholes for my office.

Very pretty buttholes. I never thought I’d write a sentence like that.

I blame cats for making everything look like butholes. They are constantly waving them in our faces (at least mine does) so the pattern gets seared into our retinas and superimposes itself on everything.

My cat is always trying to sit on my head, so I do agree with you. Every time I lay down or sit down there is a butthole waving in my face too.

How can you even draw? Depression makes me only want to sleep, preferably with my dogs. Your art is amazing. I found a life changing therapist on betterhealth...and the sunshine and longer days help. You keep me going. So excited for your book!

When I first read it I thought you said 'button' holes and a button back sofa came to mind. And I saw shiny tensioned leather. Then you said 'buttholes' and I laughed out loud having not even seen them in the pattern! Having had 7 cats I should know this look very well :) Mind you, the world is chock full of big, fat, stupid, pursed lipped, 'actual' buttholes right now, so no wonder you feel quite rubbish. Thank you for making me laugh Jenny and never mind pencil outlines! Wonderful old fashioned architects drawings have those too.

What!? Monet had a butthole period? Ima bout to do a deep dive into that…yuk, yuk. What a clever, funny community - thanks butthole friends 🥳

Thank you. I needed to hear this right now.

I spent a lot of time staring and I never got buttholes. I called my dog over and pretended like I was going to give her lots of back scratches, but instead I lifted her tail to observe *her* butthole. Sorry, I don't see any resemblance. 🤷🏽‍♀️

I love you, Jenny! 😘

From "art.ble.com":

"Like many Impressionist painters, Claude Monet received a great deal of harsh criticism for his vibrantly bold new artistic movement."

I frankly cherish your various mandala dispositions.

You're right. We have to keep going, regardless.

Keep going, indeed!

As the saying goes, "This too shall pass."

And super drawing, as always. :)

OK, you cannot know how perfect this is because our dog had actual butthole surgery a while back and ever since then will jump up from a dead sleep to lick himself and one of us is always yelling, "Henry, stop licking your butthole!" and you have to be pretty fast on the draw when he decides to try to kiss you because, ew, no -- and so when I read your post I started laughing and can't stop. Thank you!!!!
