"If you build it, they will come." And surely that's what Jenny has done here! 🖤🖤🖤🖤🫂 I've always been a fringe dweller, a weirdo. I love this community.
Just today, I started planning my retirement at the end of this year. It's past time to step out of healthcare and take care of myself. Looking forward to learning how to be excellent at resting. 😘
Congratulations on the book! I hope you find space for yourself amongst all that crowds in. And joy. I hope all of the author stuff doesn't steal the joy as if your drawings are any indication, there will be so much joy to share.
Jenny, I think you are really awesome and I am excited for you. People WILL show up to your book events and they WILL buy the book! You're rad and I'm glad you're making art in this world.
I needed to hear these words so badly today. Thank you for saying them to me. Cuz, of course, I see these messages as just for me, just between you and me. 😆
Dear Jenny, I have a hunch your awesome Personal Assistant is out there, just waiting for the moment you're ready to share the load. Naturally, she'll be a big Dexter fan. (I'm old and confused, but it puzzles me how watching Dexter and reading scary books help one cope with anxiety and depression. Please explain. Thanks.)
For me personally, watching shows about serial killers is much easier to handle when I'm down - no need to pretend the world is feeling happy-clappy to me. Plus there's usually a tidy ending in due course. I need tidy endings.
Hi Jenny! You and your wise words are just what I needed today. My husband and I are moving from the Midwest to the Pacific Northwest in two months. This next chapter of our 40 year marriage will take place near our 35 year old daughter and her fiance. I am ESTATIC and totally freaked out! SO MANY BIG FEELINGS! Sending peace and joy your way. Your words and art brought me peace and joy today. Thank you for being YOU! ❤️
Moves are high on the list of things that impact our lives! Wishing you the best, and you definitely need to make some quiet time for yourself in the middle of it, if you are able. Wishing you the best of luck, that sounds amazing! 🤍
Jenny, if you were coming to Charlotte, I would show up. Your fans will show up to support you. You are so loved by so many. I can't remember the exact year (2008? 2012?) my friend Jen said "The Bloggess is kicking my ass again." I asked her who this Bloggess was. I've been following you ever since. Why? Because I found someone who was just as fucked up as I am. And I felt seen. Thank you for being you. Because it makes being me seem OK.
Your artwork is beautiful, Jenny. The act of creation is never non-productive time. The fact that you're bingeing Dexter is clearly just part of your creative process! And when you make space for yourself, somehow you make space for the rest of us, too. Thank you.
I'm so excited your book is finally arriving! Can't wait to read it! Thanks for all you do for the other travelers out here on this crazy, scary, wonderful journey. Sending love and great success. You deserve it my friend!!
I love that you do these drawings. If they become a chore for you, then of course you should stop. Just know that you're not wasting time doing these. They really help people like me.
I get the root fear of people not showing up for your book tour but I think the real fear is of your fans not being able to get in the door because of the mobs....and there will be mobs!
BTW, if you still have that day off between LA and Portland, I'm sure Noe Valley Books in SF could accommodate a book event/meet and greet :)
One of the perks of being older and retired. I am getting to be excellent at resting 😌
To quote Arthur Bach, "It doesn't suck."
(Everything is a movie quote opportunity, for me.)
Same. Or song lyrics!
ALWAYS SONG LYRICS!
I always knew that I had found my people, but this proves it.

It’s a skill and an art…I retired 10 years ago and am still getting better at it! Have a fine rest of your life!

Thank you, Laura. You've switched on the light. It all makes sense now.

You’re a breath of fresh air. So talented and honest. Good luck with the tour.

It’s hard to stop the habit of seeking busyness…but I’m working on it.
