Someone asked me last week why my card to them was scotch taped closed. "Um because my orange cat sat on the envelope and I didn't want to touch it after that." (and yes, there are times sharing art feels incredibly like doing those trust falls they tried to get us to do during team building workshops - we're trusting that the artistic parts of ourselves that we put into the world will be met with kindness and in a way that helps us grow.)
Thank you for this work. I always feel better after reading your posts and your artful messages. And the fact that you send these out to us sometimes while having a bad week? I feel blessed. I imagine them going out to many people as hopeful missives on the wing. You are such a lovely person. And tell Hunter Tomcat that Mabel my calico and he are kindred spirits. She eats all the tape and plastic she can find.
I can totally relate on the snail mail! Sending notes brings me joy(and gives me spoons)! I always have lots of stamps on me, just incases! The post office must love me. I think in a past life, I was a philologist!
Thank you for sharing your vulnerable belly. Artists must be both brave and thick skinned. Your courage to be open while feeling powerful emotions is breathtaking.
Jenny, I have enjoyed your art since the first time I saw your drawing. I even went through all of your writings and drawings to the very first of published drawings in this Substack. I want to let you know that your imagination, your creativity, your endurance, your resilience have inspired me. Although you mentioned you sometimes went to depression, it’s amazing to see how creative you are even through the dark time. For my own experience of depression, I find dark won’t go anywhere other than in the dark or rabbit holes. Therefore, it takes courage to just live in the now and choose the positive side with gratitude to live life day by day. No self judgement, accept the body pain, do what you can to uplift your spirit and stay in the present… you are quite gifted and talented.
My neighbours have a weird, orange boy. He chases my dog, yet wants to follow us on our walks and wonders why the dog won’t have it. I guess he just really sucks at flirting.
You are so inspiring to me… I’ve combined words and pictures for years in journals & cards… not like yours, of course… which is why yours are so inspiring❣️ Thank you, S
The prevalent theory is that all orange cats share a single brain cell, and some days it's just not their turn to use it! Having been the chosen human belonging to several orange cats over the years, I really believe it. 😂
I had a cat that linked to chew plastic, ESPECIALLY the kind that is wrapped around things like water bottle cases! She never actually ate it, just liked the crunching sound I guess! The vet said it is a weird form of PICA that cats have... .of course they are weirdos just like the rest of us!
Love your post, last week and this. Can I borrow "orange" to help me with a million postcard stamps? Also, (or not really "also"), your drawings are inspirational.

How fun! When I have the spoons to do so, I love sending out snail mail love to Bloggess Pals members and the few real life friends I have left.
It brings me some joy, but in a depressive episode, nothing is safe from apathy.
Thank you for always shining your light, or showing us that it will return again 🌻💜

I love him so much! Maybe he thinks stamps still need licked and is trying to lend kitty spittle! 😂

This is literally my favorite thing you have ever drawn. I am grateful to you!
This resonated ❤️

Glad getting out was good. Having had 2 orange cats, I can confirm, they are indeed weird.

😂
I hope I get one of the gnawed ones!
I love you, Jenny!

This warmed my soul. Thank you.
Also, hello Hunter! 😽

My kitty did that too. She especially liked sticky paper, like the lint roller kind.
