This week’s drawing started off very simple but I didn’t love it and so I kept adding to it, which usually results in me overworking something to the point that it gives me a headache, but this time I actually really loved it?
I always add words to my drawings but I hadn’t really left myself enough space so I showed it to Victor to see what he thought of it without words, and he said that it looked really peaceful “except for that big semi-truck bearing down on me.”
Wtf?
Then I was like, “Dude. That’s the fucking moon. Obviously.” But then I started to wonder if I’d lost my mind.
So I showed it to Hailey and said, “Your dad thinks this is a semi-truck” and they laughed and said, “What? How?” and I felt vindicated until they added, “There’s only one headlight. It would have to be a motorcycle or something.”
And then I thought that maybe I should just write “THIS IS THE MOON, Y’ALL” on the moon but I decided not to because honestly, sometimes art is in the eye of the beholder and it’s not my place to tell people what to see in it.
But it’s totally the moon.
