This week I didn’t have the mental capacity to create something difficult so instead I decided to draw a flower with a million little petals and I thought it was shaping up nicely until my kid looked over my shoulder and said, “Is that tongues?”
And then all I could see were tongues.
So I added a clarification:
And then I wondered if I’d made it worse because now even people who never would have thought it was tongues are now only thinking about tongues and it’s all my fault.
But then I reminded myself that the purpose of art is to make you feel, and personally I feel a little bit embarrassed so I guess that’s a success? But also I think it’s important to share the good and the bad in your artistic journey because they’re not all going to be winners.
And then I went outside to take a picture of the drawing (because that’s the best way to get a bright photo) but when I was focusing it flew away on the wind and I chased it down the street where it was captured by a guy walking a dog and that’s how I ended up running at a perfect stranger who was staring at a drawing I’d made that is not of tongues and that’s also why I’m not leaving the house for the rest of the day.
PS. It’s not tongues.
😂 This was hilarious. I can picture you running down the street and the guy staring at your picture. Also, I can tell that’s not tongues. 👅
While I saw a beautifully detailed doubly doubled dahlia, I’m now compelled to congratulate you on your stunning rendition of an actual tongue lashing.
