Okay, first off...apologies for the preview picture being A CAT'S BUTTHOLE. Jesus.

Second, I just found out that the flop that cats do is called a "flump". THIS IS MY NEW FAVORITE WORD.

Adding “flump” to my lexicon along with “sploot” which I learned last month after seeing a squirrel spread eagle in the water bowl I put out for them! #themoreyouknow

could someone help me please ?? with "flump" "sploot" etc, "Gogol" translate seems to be inapt to transpose these words in french... (though I imagine some senses, but ..? thanks !! ;))

Flump is like a plop, but more full-bodied. Sploot is when an animal lays fully on the ground to the point that they splay out their back legs so their tummy is fully on the ground.

Aaaah ok !! Thanks, I see it very well now ! ;)

My squirrel sploots so stylishly and casually while munching peanuts on the branch of a tree outside my kitchen window. He digs my company.

Cats have butt holes. They like to show them off. No worries.

Cats are also hateful creatures when they are in the mood.

You can’t really see a dog’s butt when they are dragging themselves across the carpet, rear feet up and front feet pulling along the rest of the parts. At my house, we call it sailing and discourage it whenever possible. If they do it in the driveway gravel, it’s fine, especially since it’s probably more productive.

"Sailing" is such a perfect word for this.

Ooh, good term. We call it the skooge.

Skooge? That’s also a good word. Maybe the dog thing has hundreds of words around the world, like all the Inuit words for snow.

I called my neighbor’s cat “Flippy Floppy” before I found out his true name, Tigre. May he rest in stripey peace.

Love Hunters show and tell moment. Excellent. And I love Flump!! My daughter calls it a sploot when our dogs do it on their bellies... and I have lovingly called one of them "Fluffle-butt" because she is so fluffly and bunny soft... and learned that a group of bunnies IS ACTUALLY called a Fluffle??!! All my best to the tribe! Hope you get your extra 100 and even out that total Ms. Lawson!

I just woke up from a co-nap with my 15-yr old cat. It’s been a rough day because I had to call the vet for her final visit. The next couple of days I’m spoiling her and treating her even more like the queen she is. But this afternoon we napped together for the first time in a very long time.

Hugs and love from another cat Mom. It's difficult, and we're all keeping you in our thoughts. When I knew the end was coming for some of my fur babies, I made videos of them having fun or just being themselves.

So sorry to hear your cat is nearing the end. One of mine just turned 13 and seems perfectly healthy but then one never knows how much time we have left. The other is 7. I am not even sure if I will outlive either of them. I have been sleeping a lot....I think it's stress and depression but haven't gone to the doctor. Just exhausted all the time.

So sorry. Give her lots of love. My 15 yr old kitty had a stroke while I was away on vacation with my kiddos. My husband was here and he took her to the vet hospital and they kept her comfortable until we got home. But we didn't have much time with her. Enjoy the time you have left and love on her. She's lucky to have a cat mom like you. Hugs.

Hell yes. I’ve always felt guilty anytime I napped and I’m just not going to worry about it anymore. I’ll be spooning one of my cats on the couch for a long nap this afternoon. Love you Jenny. 💜

My rabbits sploot and their butts are adorable!

I, too, have exhaustion and it’s absolutely the 3 autoimmune diseases I’ve been finally diagnosed with. I have to be creative in ways to trick my insomnia, muscle pain, and a lot of random tiredness just to cope.

I gave up (mostly) feeling guilty if my home or appearance aren’t what I’d like. Life’s too short!

Of course it’s okay to rest. It’s our success driven, on time, got ‘er done, stop wasting time culture that pushes us to exhaustion.

Sometimes I wonder about how I would design life and culture, within the constraints of mortality, if I was in charge. I would probably redo things more along the lines of Scott and Helen Nearing’s schedule. Half a day for doing all the things needed to make a modest living, and the rest of the day to follow one’s dreams and curiosity.

For certain, I would change the idea of deadlines. What’s the first half of the word deadline?? That definitely needs changing.

“But we will all die if we are not forced to be productive.” An almost majority of writers I read on Substack talk about getting rid of stuff, owning too much stuff, downsizing, living more simply, and somehow getting out of the rat race.

Why don’t we simply all do the right thing for once?

It's posts like this that makes me think, ok, how in the world did she know that I needed this post today, as well as an adorable drawing of sleepy Hunter S. Thomcat, with their sleepy butthole and all? Also, yay 90 Day Fiance universe (my husband and I guilt watch those together). Angela is beyond terrifying (I would be so afraid to be in a room alone with her), but she is my favorite.."I'M SO TIRED MICHAEL." I totally get falling asleep at 6:00 pm on the couch! My couch snoozes lately I chalk up to my body still being completely bonkers since I had a total hysterectomy (kept my ovaries) back in May. I'm also enjoying unpleasant goofy mood swings, along with other medical strangeness. Good times!

We can learn so much from our four-legged children about what it means to put your needs first as a second nature. It's a beautiful and wonderful portrait 💜

I hope your spoons replenish soon! 🌻✨

There must be something in the air, because I've felt similarly... we live in a tumultuous time and mayhap our energy can sense that?

Love the flump! I also have been thinking about nap guilt and how animals just sleep whenever and wherever. Why are we humans so strict about something so natural as sleeping??? It's weird that taking time to sleep is considered a radical act.

No guilt for naps! They're completely necessary sometimes. Life often comes & goes in waves & even tides. Rest up, & I hope you feel more energy soon! Try not to forget that YOU ARE COMPLETELY AWESOME ALL THE TIME, whether you feel it or not.
