To quote They Might Be Giants:

"Blue canary in the outlet by the light switch

Who watches over you

Make a little birdhouse in your soul

Not to put too fine a point on it

Say I'm the only bee in your bonnet

Make a little birdhouse in your soul"

Consider us your Blue Canaries in the outlet by the light switch.

We'll watch over you.

Pinky swear.

I love this so much! The message and the drawing really touch the depression inside me.

You have inspired me to look within myself and to face all the trauma and loss that I’ve experienced and finally write my memoir. I’m 15 chapters in and I started last month. Thank you for the hope.

I've been in a creative funk for a while now. This was nice to read. Thanks.

Whenever I'm kick in the 'nads by The Beast, I *always* convince myself that this horrific feeling, *right now*, will go on for eternity.

It never does.

And you know that.

Just a friendly reminder. You'll get through this!!!

This is the thing I value most about aging. The ability to draw from the "been there before" moments and to know that things will not stay this way, that the song will return.

The stardust. I'm in my C-Drama era and in the fantasy genre oftena people are depicted as turning into stardust. The stardust in your picture reminds me of it.

I'm in a crazy, wacky time right now. Almost in a depressed but manic state. I'm angry cleaning. The house needs it but as I'm doing it, I'm really angry. Then I'm crying. Don't worry. Therapist is all over it.

Ah, that cunning voice can be intoxicating. It lies though. The only songs it knows are woeful and dispiriting. If it must croon, give it a minute, then raise your voice to drown it out or focus your attention elsewhere. Your life is an ever-evolving art piece.

I remember seeing this drawing when you shared it a year or two ago in a post asking about the ink changing colors. I wanted to chalk it somewhere then and still wish I could chalk it now. And sometimes I wish that when things hit me in the feelings, I could just click share like a normal person. Thank you again for putting things into words (and drawings) that I can't get out or even name to myself. To your resting songbird, may she sing sweet and loud again soon.

good on you for naming it here when the inclination is often to keep it to ourselves - you have made a positive cause for yourself & for others! (myself most definitely included)

You will find your spark again 🤍 You already create beauty with and even without the spark. I personally feel that we don’t always need a spark to create. Sometimes the desire to make something works and other times just hope is enough.

Your honesty is like the diamonds in the sky Jenny. Holding light for everyone who needs this until their Sun reappears too. ⭐️✨⭐️

As a hobby astrologer I wonder, thinking of outside / inner natural influences on us and of course 'coined as' woo woo! .....have you ever looked at your birth chart or even you ancestral charts, or simply the Moon cycles, in connection with how you feel or have felt over times? Just a thought. 🤗
