This is Jen Beekay....thank you all for the love of the quilt...I use the stitching to escape the darkness in my head....every day I sit down at 3pm to rest and stitch and to NOT think about "all this"...Jenny's substack and her commitment to draw consistently helped me establish a more routine stitching practice. Love to all.
I Love the brown window!!!! I thought it was supposed to be like that. Isn’t that how the universe works sometimes? And the maker of that quilt is incredible.
I like the brown. My brain filled in the bricks with red. It was like the animation of the black and white was taking over the real world to block out the noise and soothe the loud thoughts.
I might be tempted to try a series of drawings with a brown centrepiece. It's an interesting contrast to explore. Those pens fell into your hands for a reason.
I will just say this, please don't throw shade my way. I love the brown pen! It creates a different space. It provides depth to the sketch. Hurray! It's an unplanned and unexpected consequense. I have had this happen before in watercolor: When I finish, I may hate it, but then the next day, I look at it with different eyes.

Jen! I sent you a thank you card just in case I never found you online but I'm so glad to see you here. You are amazing. Truly.

Y'all are making me like what I was so self-conscious about. I so love you.
I like the brown, actually...it makes it looks like there might be a warm fire reflecting off wood walls inside.
That quilt is AMAZING! And I like the brown - the cat is seeing out the window, and outside is different than inside. :)
I love both versions. I've always loved the black and white, but there is something cool about the bit of brown. It is like a view into another world.

In the words of Bob Ross: "There are no mistakes. Only happy accidents."
the brown looks really good.
I love the pop (poop?) of brown!
And thank you for the reminder. I’m making bonehead mistakes lately and needed it.
I actually liked the brown 😀. The quilt looks amazing, what an incredible gift.
I really like the brown window amidst the black and white. It draws you into the picture. It’s called serendipity, Jenny, not a fuck up. 🤗
Great quilt!Art is art and needs obey zero parameters.
